Does anyone else in the world have a holiday fever like I do? I'm not sure if is because my parents are coming for Thanksgiving or if it is because it is our first holiday season as a married couple. Either way I am holding back urges to go buy and put up our first Christmas Tree.
Now I have always been the person to buy Christmas gifts early it helps to not break the bank come the "Black Friday" or "Green Friday" because everyone goes to charge up those credit cards and empty those bank accounts.
As many of you know my husband travels often and when he is gone that is my prime time to go out and get some things holiday shopping done. I must brag for a moment and say I'm almost done shopping for TJ. Now the fact it is just the two of us we are splurging a bit on our first Christmas as man and wife. The fact we didn't have a wedding shower means lots of useful gifts that we will put to a lot of use.
Well as I ramble on I wanted this post to be my "How to Shop for the Holidays" Post:
So I know many people say wait for the deals! Well darlings the deals are all year round and they are there to bring people in to spend money and save money!
I usually start my shopping in July-ish, this means general gifts are great to go buy!
Another place to check for deals Amazon.com and Ebay.com! You don't have to pay for a membership, items are usually cheaper, I've never had a problem with any of their items, and a lot of the time you can find free shipping!
When you buy gifts at pieces at a time you don't need to charge them, you set aside cash and then sneak it home. I also have been doing this with our Holiday decor. I have a box with the ornaments I plan to use and I’ve been buying them at Hobby lobby for 40% off. I have the Nativity, garland, tree skirt, stocking holders, stockings, filler pieces, a door hanger and more all for almost half off. It's when they start putting out those ads saying hey we have trees and decor is when you need to get in your car and drive!
Hiding gifts may be another thing if your family members have a curious eye. I just wrap them. TJ knows where they are but they are wrapped to perfection. I wrap most of my smaller gifts with brown grocery bags (I'll post the how to later) but its free paper that gets repurposed and then recycled after being ripped to pieces! Plus it gives your tree that rustic look.. which is the theme of ours.
I'm so ready for the holiday season and I hope you are too! It is the season we can rejoice and let our faith grow! It is also our anniversary! We spent an entire month together after a 5 year relationship and thought why spend one more moment apart and we got married the day after Christmas. So most people get two magical days we get three :)
Until next time!
